Cybersecurity researchers reported that an unknown hacker attacked the DeltaPrime broker early this morning. The attacker approximately managed to gain access to the service’s private key. As a result, cryptocurrencies totaling $6 million were stolen.
Researchers from Cyvers were the first to draw attention to this situation. Representatives of the organization noted that they identified a number of suspicious transactions that were associated with the DeltaPrime wallet. The attack itself targets liquidity pools in the Arbitrum ecosystem. DeltaPrime specialists, for their part, reported that the service encountered technical difficulties. However, they did not confirm that the difficulties were due to an exploit.
This situation once again emphasizes that hackers are the most active. Often their victims are not only ordinary users, but also large pools of liquidity, as well as decentralized protocols. At the beginning of this month, analysts from the Spot On Chain organization reported that in the period from September 1 to September 8, attackers laundered almost $50 million in Ethereum. It is noteworthy that a significant share of transfers came from the well-known mixer Tornado Cash.
It is worth noting: the hacker of the WazirX site continues to actively launder stolen ether coins. At the moment, the attacker is holding just over $49 thousand of ETH for a total of at least $110 million.
Onchain researchers and law enforcement agencies continue to monitor the hacker’s next steps. Experts hope that they will be able to stop repeated money laundering activities. All these cases highlight that the decentralized finance segment is vulnerable. Therefore, it is necessary to develop additional measures to tighten monitoring.
